Red Canyon Repair
Chimney & Fireplace
From the owner
If you had to pick, what might be your favorite job?
“Hard to say..
I love the look of a freshly repointed chimney, and while the work can be tedious I really do enjoy it. Really, anytime I get to do some masonry work I enjoy it. I remember on a few occasions I’ve even told my customers what a treat it was to do some masonry work for them“
Why did you choose fireplaces and chimneys as a profession?
“I have always loved fire, as a kid we had a wood burning insert in a house we rented. That was our main heat source through the winter. I would often be the one to bring in wood and start the fires. I really enjoyed that. I have always felt that the heat from a wood fire is just the best”
How did you learn the ropes of the trade?
“Put simply, I got a job at a chimney company out east. I learned theory, but what I learned most was how the work is actually done. I poured my heart into the work, and ran my own team for a time. I have always loved learning, and this trade appealed to me in many ways”
Damage
Improper Installation eventually led to a housefire. This picture shows just some of the damage caused by the fire and efforts to extinguish it.
A repair process like this takes deliberate planning and coordination. The new chimney and fireplace installation had to be carefully selected to ensure a safe burning environment. This project also included using fireproof insulation and non-combustible covering in the chase to further increase safety.
